JWGB participated in the formulation of the national standard GB/T19587-2017 "Determination of Specific Surface Area of Solid Materials by Gas Adsorption BET Method."

The latest national standard for specific surface area measurement, GB/T19587-2017 "Determination of Specific Surface Area of Solid Materials by Gas Adsorption BET Method," has been officially released by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China and the National Standardization Management Committee. It will be formally implemented starting from April 2018, marking a significant event in the field of powder materials. As the sole producer of specific surface area analyzers among the drafting units of this standard, Professor Zhong Jiaxiang, Chief Scientist of Beijing JWGB Scientific and Technological Co., Ltd., also served as the leader of the expert review group for this standard.

This new standard is considered equivalent to the international standard ISO9277:2010, reflecting some new developments in recent years internationally. The most significant aspect is the detailed introduction of methods for determining the specific surface area of microporous powder materials, which, although listed in an informative appendix, occupies a substantial portion. This makes it highly valuable and instructive.

Over the past decade, China has become the country with the most extensive application of specific surface area analyzers worldwide. The research, production, and application levels of these analyzers have also significantly increased. Consequently, China should have a significant say in the formulation of specific surface area measurement standards. Although this new standard still requires further refinement, it is certain that, while learning and applying the new standard, China will likely provide scientific and reasonable opinions. This could lead to the development of a more comprehensive specific surface area measurement standard.

It is believed that in the near future, China will play a more dominant role in the formulation of specific surface area standards. As pioneers of Chinese nitrogen adsorption analyzers, JWGB is willing to engage in extensive and in-depth discussions with colleagues at any time regarding any issues in the new standard. The company is committed to providing valuable insights and suggestions for the standard formulation process.
